  • What is Life Care Planning?

What is Life Care Planning?

The future is uncertain for all of us. For individuals living with chronic or worsening health problems, it can feel even more so. When you have a disability, a debilitating disease, a catastrophic injury, or any other sort of long-term health issue, it can be tough to plan for the future knowing that healthcare will be a constant part of your life going forward. Standard planning methods like Estate Planning and Elder Law solutions do not come with built-in accommodations to help your specific needs.

This is where Life Care Planning enters the picture. Life Care Planning is a unique process where care advocacy, social work, legal protection, and financial planning all get rolled up into one package. Life Care Planning sets an up front plan for how to cover every aspect of your life and healthcare in the future, including the financial means of paying for it. It helps ensure that your loved ones will not be forced to scramble to pay for your healthcare later in life, and that you will receive all the care you need and deserve.

Life Care Planning is achieved through a partnership between healthcare professionals and a specialized attorney. They will work with you to eventually create a Life Care Plan, a legally-binding document that covers every aspect of your healthcare and medical wishes in the future. The Life Care Plan will prepare for everything you could need later in life, including medical equipment, therapy, diagnostic testing, medication, home care, surgical intervention, aids for independent functioning, and much more.

Much work goes into Life Care Planning and making it perfect for you. The process bases their early evaluations on standard practices, data analysis, and an in-depth personal analysis. From there, a list of your long-term needs will be created and priced, and avenues to fund them will be researched and decided upon. The end result means that you don’t have to worry about the ability or willingness of anyone else to be able to take care of you if you are no longer able to take care of yourself. You will be protected by a legally-enforced Life Care Plan, which is already funded. The hard part is over before it even begins.

Of course, Life Care Planning is about more than just money and documents. Social work and mental health are major areas of focus in the field. At Miller Law Firm PC, we have experience working in specialized Life Care Planning fields. We also partner with social workers that are unique to our firm. If you are ready to create a Life Care Plan and protect your future, contact Miller Law Firm PC today! We protect your legacy by planning for the future today.
